LIBRARY VOLUNTEERING FAQS
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at the Camas Public Library! We value our volunteers’ contributions to the success of the Library mission.
How do I become a Library volunteer?
All Library volunteers must first make an account here. Once you have an account, you may choose volunteer opportunities.
I've made an account but it won't let me choose shifts. Why?
Once you make your volunteer account, the next step is to choose an opportunity, and you may have to answer some additional questions (a.k.a. "qualifications") Once your answers are reviewed and approved by a Library staff member, you will then be eligible to choose your shifts!
How do I become a volunteer for a different department of the City of Camas?
For other City of Camas departments, first complete a Volunteer Services Interest form, located here. Each department will have different openings and volunteer needs at any given time. After submitting your interest form, someone will reach out to you with more information about volunteer roles available, and the next step to become a City of Camas volunteer.
What's the difference between the Library and the Friends & Foundation of the Camas Library (FFCL)?
The Library is a department of the City of Camas. The FFCL is a non-profit, volunteer-run group that fundraises and supports the Library's mission.
How old do volunteers need to be?
Volunteers must be age 14 or older; some assignments are for adults only.
Does the City of Camas run background checks on volunteers?
If your volunteer role includes regularly scheduled unsupervised access with children, the elderly, or developmentally disabled people, you need to have a background check run, at no cost to you. Background checks may be renewed annually.
Where can I find the policies and documents that are relevant to volunteering?
Please visit the City of Camas Volunteering main page.
How can I find out about new Library volunteer opportunities?
The best way is to sign up for the Library Volunteer Newsletter.
Do you have any volunteer opportunities that are not listed?
Some volunteer opportunities are available only at certain times. These roles are not currently available; please check back later.
